Purple Top Ringtop Cowrie Shells – Drilled (25 ct)
These drilled purple top ringtop cowrie shells feature a rich purple top with a cream-colored edge and underside, accented by an orange to marbled ring that circles the top of the shell. Each shell is drilled with one hole at the narrow top, making them ready for use on bandoliers, necklaces, braid ties, dresses, and other craft or regalia projects.
Purple top ringtop cowries, like standard ringtop cowries, are modern imports from Southeast Asia that became popular in the 20th century and remain widely used today. While they are used in many of the same applications as money cowries, they are not traditionally used in place of elk teeth or money cowries on dresses, where money cowries were historically preferred.
Shells naturally vary in color and pattern.
