Acrylic Hairpipe – Ivory 4” (50 ct)

These ivory-colored imitation hairpipe beads are an affordable, lightweight alternative to genuine bone hairpipe. Made from durable acrylic, they are especially popular for projects where cost and weight are a concern, while still achieving the traditional look of hairpipe work.

Each hairpipe bead is a tapered tube with a drilled center, featuring a larger hole than bone hairpipe, making stringing easier for certain designs. Imitation hairpipe have been used for decades in the same craft applications as bone and shell hairpipe, including chokers, necklaces, breast plates, bandoliers, and other regalia.

Historically, early hairpipe were made from shell and were fragile and expensive. Bone hairpipe became widely used around 1880, and imitation plastic hairpipe emerged later as the next evolution in materials.
